About us

More than
a fintech company.

We are InversePay. Our name is the argument: the way money moves around Africa today is the inverse of how it should work. We are building one account that handles all three directions: into the continent, out of it, and across it.

Why we exist

Moving money into, out of and within Africa is still slow, expensive and opaque.

Not because the technology is hard, but because nobody built for these corridors first. Most systems treat Africa as the last stop on a route designed somewhere else.

Slow

A transfer can leave on a Friday and land the following week. Businesses wait on money they have already earned, and families wait on money they already need.

Expensive

The advertised fee is rarely the real one. What gets lost in the exchange rate is often larger than the line item you agreed to.

Opaque

You hand money over and then you wait. No sense of where it is, what it will be worth on arrival, or who to ask when it stops moving.

We care about this because it is not an inconvenience. It is a tax on families supporting each other, on businesses trying to grow, and on a continent trying to trade with itself.

What drives us

One account, built for the way money actually travels here.

We are not trying to add another app to the stack. We are trying to replace the agent, the bank queue and the two apps with a single balance you control from your phone.

Our mission

Remove the financial boundaries that sit between Africa and the rest of the world, so people and businesses here can take part in the global economy without friction.

Our vision

Banking that is affordable and effective for every African. Money crossing a border as easily as a message crosses one. Financial inclusion doing real work for economic growth across the continent.

Our approach

Use technology to get past the barriers traditional finance never cleared. Serious security underneath, an interface anyone can use on top. Built for the city professional and the rural trader alike.

How we build

Decisions get made on the screen, not in the fine print.

Every product call comes back to one test: does the person moving the money understand exactly what is about to happen? If the answer needs a footnote, we have not finished the work.

  • The fee and the rate are shown before a transfer is confirmed
  • Balances read in the currency you think in, not the one we prefer
  • Payouts go where recipients already keep money
  • Every movement leaves a receipt you can return to

What we're building toward

An account that stops asking where you live.

The finished version of this is simple to describe and hard to build: money reaching anyone, in a currency they can use, at a cost both sides could see in advance.

Currencies to hold and convert

One balance, not five apps

Hold the currencies you actually use in one account, and convert between them without opening something new somewhere else.

Every direction, same standard

Into Africa, out of Africa and across it. The corridors between African countries get the same attention as the ones leaving the continent.

Payouts people already use

Money should land where the recipient already keeps it, whether that is a bank account or a mobile wallet, without them learning anything new.

Cost you can see first

The fee and the exchange rate belong on the screen before you confirm, not in a receipt you read afterwards.

Trust & regulation

How we think about holding other people's money.

Moving money is a promise, and the only way to keep it is to be boring about the parts that matter.

Licensed institutions carry the money

Funds move through licensed financial institutions and sit in safeguarded accounts, kept separate from our own. We are a financial technology company, not a bank, and we are direct about which is which.

Verification before movement

Every account is verified before it can move money. It adds a step at the start, and it is what keeps the network usable for everyone doing the right thing.

Regulation as a design input

Availability of products, currencies and payout methods varies by country because the rules do. We would rather launch a corridor properly than launch it early.

A record of everything

A PIN or your face opens the app, transfers are confirmed step by step, and every movement leaves a receipt you can go back to.

Come build the rest of it.

We are hiring across engineering, product and operations. If moving money across borders is the problem you want to spend years on, we should talk.
